Last night we had prayer and worship at the Puckett's house and as always, God was there. He put some things on my heart to pray about and as I was praying about them Kevin started saying that he felt like he needed to encourage us to let things go-- which was exactly what I was praying for. Coincidence? No way.
Here's a verse that reminds me of our goal as Christians and a body that I just read in Romans:
"May the God who gives you endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with ONE HEART AND MOUTH you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." -Romans 15:5-6. I really want that spirit of unity in Cru.
I've been finishing up Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and the end of the chapter I just read talks about biological life versus spiritual life-- also not another coincidence because that's what Pastor Warren talked about Thursday when he spoke at Cru. The word for spiritual life in Greek is Zoe... and that's what I am renaming my new fish. He'll kind of be a weird reminder to seek out that spiritual life and stay constantly moving in it. (God's the ultimate example of that, of course.)
I'm finishing up Barnes & Noble this week and I will be starting work at Pier1 the Monday after. I'm excited to see what God does here-- He's definitely moved in my friendships with co-workers at B&N. I'm going to start hanging out with one of them, Caitlin, very soon. She's awesome and I want to stay connected to her. Pier1 will be different but a better atmosphere for me. It may not be as many hours and I may not get as much money as a result of that, but 1) I hate money anyway even though it's necessary to live and 2) God will provide for as much as I need. So I'm not worried.
Bring on the changes, Lord. I'm ready.
