after 5 months..

.. i finally got a job. not just a job-- a great one. at least it sounds great :)

as of monday the 26th, i'll be employed at URS. it's a company that provides all kinds of engineering, construction and technical services for other companies. my job is a documentation specialist, which means i'll be reviewing technical documents and updating them. it sounds boring, but if you know me, you know i LOVE being an English major and getting to use that! i love all things english: grammar, spelling, correcting, writing, etc.

i never thought i would ever find a job that would let me use my major, to be honest. sure, career services in college will tell you that an English major can get a job easily and do anything. but really, if you want to specifically use the English part of it, you have to be a teacher or journalist. i'm so amazed at this opportunity. not only do i get to use my major, but i'm getting paid more than my last job, i have the option to work 7-3 rather than 9-5 if i want to, and it's close enough to home that my commute won't be a big deal.

that being said, i want to point out that the ONLY reason i have this job is because of God and the way He listens to prayer and provides. all glory to Him for this, because i really sat down and prayed that He would do this maybe two weeks ago.. the week after i prayed, i got THREE calls for jobs. THREE. after 5 months of not hearing anything. if we ask, we receive. in fact, this is mentioned more than once in the Bible: here, here, and here. all truth.

i also read Job 37:5&7 this morning: "God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; He does great things beyond our understanding.. So that all men He has made may know His work, He stops every man from His labor." when i read that, i was like, "Amen" to the first bold line, and to the second.. i just felt in awe. because He literally stopped my labor 5 months ago. He took my job away from me and through that, a lot has happened. and i see all the reasons for it so clearly now. there were things in my life that needed to get straightened out, and He fixed them in the period of time when i wasn't distracted by work. CRAZY.

anyway.. the point of this post is to tell you that i got a new job and i'm really excited. and the Lord always has a plan and purpose for us in this life. :)

I love how awesome God is like that. I just went through the same kind of situation yesterday. I this weekend decided to really give God this job situation and let Him take hold of it and sure enough He has been blessing me with some opportunities. Prayer definitely works
